As a Data Scientist (Insight) you will play a key role in our Insights team, using your strong technical skills and experience to create actionable insights for both our schools and our internal teams, helping them to put data at the heart of decisions.

Here’s how you’ll make a difference:

1. Develop impactful customer focussed insights
: Use your proven ability and experience to analyse complex data and translate it into meaningful insights for our schools, teachers, and other stakeholders. Your expertise will help enhance their experience with Sparx systems and drive student impact.

2. Develop and maintain our internal insight tools and dashboards: Support our internal teams, helping them to better understand how our users interact with the product or how our systems are performing, and enabling better data-driven insights and decisions across the business.

3. Investigate key business questions: work with all the different internal teams (from Senior leadership, product and engineering, school success teams and more) to help answer questions in a robust and data-driven way, using the most suitable approaches and techniques ranging from simple analysis to purpose-built statistical models, and visualising results in a compelling way.

What’s needed

  • Analytical expertise: Using your skills and experience, having the ability to transform complex data into clear, actionable insights that drive meaningful outcomes.

  • Technical proficiency: 1-2 years experience using R (preferred) or Python with the confidence to explore, analyse and manipulate data. SQL skills would also be an added bonus

  • Data tools/ communication skills: Experience with data tools and techniques, including dashboards, statistical models, and data visualisation.

  • Problem-solving skills: Strong aptitude for answering key business questions with robust, data-driven approaches.

  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively across diverse teams, including senior leadership, product, engineering, and school success teams.

  • Communication: Skilled in presenting data and insights in a compelling and understandable way to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Customer focus: Commitment to delivering great insights that drive impact

  • Pace & agility: Seeing change as an opportunity to learn and grow and always looking to enhance 

What you’ll bring

  • Strong technical experience and expertise: 1-2 years minimum hands-on experience in a data role, with a strong grasp of insights and their practical application.

  • Experience and skill:  Working experience in R/Python and a degree in quantitative discipline like Mathematics or Statistics. Experience with Google’s ecosystem (BigQuery, Dataform, and Looker Studio) is a plus as is Github and data storage.

  • Stakeholder management: Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders understanding their needs and concerns.

  • Excellent communication skills: Skilled at translating technical findings into actionable insights and compelling visualisations for a wide range of audiences.

  • Purpose-driven mindset: A passion for education and a commitment to creating meaningful change. Experience in the education sector is a bonus.

  • Collaboration: A team player who’s warm, supportive, and a pleasure to work with.
