Location: We’re based at Oxygen House in Exeter, and currently operate an office based model with flexibility.

Contract: Permanent. Full-time (40 hours per week). For the duration of the apprenticeship (approx. 18 months) you will be required to attend college for 1 day a week (included within your working hours).

Salary: £21,000 FTE (£10.09 per hour)

As a Business Administration apprentice you will be joining our Internal Operations team and will play a key role in the day to day running of the office and the support we provide to our people. 


This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in business and administration. You will need a positive and can-do attitude, good organisational skills and a keen attention to detail. A passion for events would be an advantage! You will in time play a key role in the efficient running of our exciting, fast-paced workplace and taking on a wide variety of administrative tasks. 


Career progression is something we believe in and upon successful completion of the apprenticeship the role will move you to the position of Internal Operations Coordinator.

Job requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Your role will be busy and full of variety. Full training will be provided and the work you undertake will support the learning you are undertaking during your apprenticeship. Tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Support the planning process for internal and external meetings and events, which will include diary management, booking meeting rooms, organising agendas and looking after guests and arranging travel and accommodation as required.
  • Learning to coordinate meetings, creating agendas, taking minutes and following up on actions.
  • Conducting research, collating information, preparing presentations and reports.
  • Support the planning of staff social & company events, including booking venues, organising guests and providing event support on the day
  • Maintaining internal documents and designated areas of the Sparx intranet ensuring that these areas remain up to date and engaging and ensuring that all information held internally is kept up to date and is relevant in line with data protection guidelines
  • Support with organising celebration events, gifts and cards including employee service milestones
  • Completing general administrative tasks such as filing, purchasing, processing expenses and managing stationery. You will also be expected to answer the phone and handle any incoming correspondence
  • Liaising and working with other teams within Sparx and the wider Oxygen House (e.g. IT, House Services, Facilities, Human Resources) to achieve end results
  • A variety of projects and other admin related duties as required


You will have:

  • Minimum Level 2 in Maths and English (a requirement for apprenticeship enrolment).
  • Excellent communication skills which includes being responsive to requests and a helpful attitude.
  • Experience of meeting deadlines with the ability to manage your time effectively.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A willingness to learn, contribute and add value to Sparx and our mission.
